About Us
"Actively contribute to Electrical Grid Stability and Energy Resiliency Monitoring for a Smarter Grid at Strategic and Critical Infrastructure Sites Around the World."
“Making the World Better One Substation at a Time.”
...with a focus on "Imagineering Energy Resiliency" and "Actualizing Non-Traditional Critical Infrastructure Protection," such as at electrical grid substations, for the Indo-Pacific.
The Analytics on Analytics (A2O)® Team consists of a dedicated, hard-working, and forward-looking group of Power System Engineers, High Voltage Protection Engineers, Substation Automation Engineers, Enterprise Architects, Information Technologists, Informatics Engineers, and Data Scientists. The A2O Team, which has historically been part of an encompassing VT Team, was first deployed as a joint special unit to fill a critical gap and be responsive to a governmental request.
A2O Team members have served as energy resiliency advisors to various international organizations, regional collaborations, and government agencies as well as departments. By combining the various strengths of each of its team members, the A2O Team has made significant strides towards addressing several complex issues related to power quality, stability, interoperability, and resiliency. The A2O Team has a rich heritage and extensive experience with deploying and refining energy analytics platforms, particularly as pertains to that of their namesake – Analytics on Analytics (A2O)®.
In terms of past performance, there has been a Hawaii-centric team and several A2O Country Teams throughout the Indo-Pacific:
"Salam pembuka" from Indonesia!
"ทักทาย" from Thailand!
"ຊົມເຊີຍ" from Laos!
"Salam" from Malaysia!
"Pagbati" from the Philippines!
In terms of past performance, the A2O Team coverage has historically focused upon:
San Diego|Pacific Standard (PST)|UTC-8
Jakarta|Western Indonesian (WIT)|UTC+7
Bangkok|Indochina (ICT)|UTC+7
Vientiane|Indochina (ICT)|UTC+7
Kuala Lumpur|Malaysia (MYT)|UTC+8
Manila|Philippine (PHT)|UTC+8
Depending upon the project, there have been various team leads.
The members of the A2O Team are proud of their respective home countries. They are also proud to part of a joint Indo-Pacific staff for the A2O Team at-large. Members of the A2O Team are available to assist as needed, for each and every A2O Team member is dedicated to changing the world and has embraced the notion of "Imagineering Energy Resiliency" to tackle challenging problems not only for the various esteemed clients and their home countries, but also for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Indo-Pacific, the U.S., and the world-at-large.
A2O Team Projects are taken on only if they actively contribute to the host country, the region, the U.S., and - of course - the world-at-large.
As examples, the A2O Team is privileged and honored to have supported commemorative venues of the ASEAN 50 (the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN, a regional intergovernmental organization consisting of 10 Southeast Asian countries ) as well as the Asian Games (the largest multi-sport games after the Olympic Games and involves the 45 member countries affiliated with the Olympic Council of Asia). The A2O Team has also had the privilege of supporting signatory countries of the Energy Purchase and Wheeling Agreement (the first multilateral energy arrangement of the ASEAN and the first actualization of the ASEAN Power Grid).

Characteristics
A2O Team Members have had experience working within or with government, undergone the rigor of an advanced graduate experience, and have had experience with the competitive demands of industry.
We live in a highly connected, technological world that demands ever-evolving Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) skills. A2O Team Members have a strong foundational basis so as to keep up with societal needs and the demands of being part of a high performance team.
A2O Team Members engage in real-world deployments of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) all over the world. The ability to prepare for the unexpected, adapt to ever-changing circumstances, and to think on your feet is a must!
A2O Team Members need to be proficient in a variety of communications venues: formal presentations, verbal briefings, and report writing!
Veteran A2O Team Members expect new members to be dedicated and respectful to the team, client, host country, participating countries, and involved organizations. In addition, the members of the A2O Team are tightly united in their fervor and dedication towards enhancing energy resiliency for the world-at-large and rendering the most pragmatic and elegant engineering solutions that the A2O Team possibly can for the esteemed clients that it has the privilege and honor of serving.
Inside Look
The A2O Team convenes in any number of locations for their Pre-Mission Gatherings. However, in terms of past performance, the A2O Team often convened in either Honolulu, Hawaii, Bangkok, Thailand, or Jakarta, Indonesia to have these Pre-Mission Briefings. By way of some background information regarding Bangkok, it serves as a regional hub for various international development organizations and well-serves as a pre-mission gathering spot as well as launching point. By way of some background information regarding Jakarta, it serves as home to the ASEAN Secretariat and ASEAN-related as well as regionally-related venues. From the Pre-Mission Launching Point, the A2O Team members have, historically, traveled together, as each of their shock rackmount transport cases, which contain their equipment, weighs approximately 100 lbs and requires at least two people to move them. Upon arrival at their destination, the A2O Team generally links up with the relevant "Joint and Combined Planning Office" or other relevant office and proceeds to have technical planning sessions to prepare for the A2O Mission.
Pre-Mission GatheringsThe A2O Team has a rich heritage along with certain fascinating traditions when it comes to greeting substation staff, for by the end of this profound ceremony, they become a joint team and "family." They have, historically, examined the involved substation(s) together and proceeded to discuss the final Mission Specifications and any Interoperability requirements for the necessary installations/deployments and/or modifications as well as to achieve final concurrence on the materials necessary to complete the task-at-hand. A final Mission Strategy is approved, and the work commences to provide an end-to-end picture of the grid performance at the involved substation(s). In anticipation of Murphy’s Law, a well-known adage that states, “whatever can go wrong, will go wrong,” the A2O Team has both an On-Site Mission Team as well as a Reach-Back Mission Team at the designated operations center. In this way, there is a support element that can help address the issues that arise, and hopefully, the Reach-Back Mission Team does not have to hear the words, "Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here;" these were the gripping words contained within the radio communications between the Apollo 13 astronaut John ("Jack") Swigert and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Mission Control Center ("Houston") during the Apollo 13 spaceflight mission to land on the moon, when an unexpected explosion crippled the spacecraft. In any case, the A2O Team has, historically, tabletopped, simulated, and practiced for the A2O Mission at hand. They are prepared for what they trained for and are also prepared to contend with the unexpected.
Missions-in-ProgressAs discussed, the unexpected, via Murphy's Law, tends to happen. For example, in preparation for an installation and/or modification, an advance list of requisite materials for the task-at-hand is provided beforehand. However, when the A2O Team arrives, several critical components might not be present, thereby highlighting the criticality and pragmatism of the Grid Resiliency Reserve Depot (GRRD) of materials that the A2O Team has endeavored to pre-position throughout the region of their work. These lessons learned, as well as many others, are instructive for how the joint team (consisting of the A2O Team and the responsible authorities) can better prepare the involved locations (e.g. substations) to have certain essential materials present and available in the event of a contingency/exigency situation. The A2O Team is dedicated to always refining its Tools, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPS) as well as always striving to improve as a higher performance team. For these reasons and others, the A2O Team conducts several iterations of After Action Reviews (AARs), so as to improve for the future and to always do the utmost for its esteemed clients. In essence, the A2O Team lives and breathes AARs!
